David Harvey Yoder

David Harvey Yoder, 84 years old, born on September 13, 1939, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10th, 2024, in his hometown of Fair Play, South Carolina surrounded by his family.

A follower of Jesus, David was married to his beloved wife, Barbara, for 66 years, and together they raised eight children, and greatly enjoyed forty-four grandchildren, and seventy great-grandchildren.

He worked in a sawmill as a boy, and then went on to work as a brick mason, homebuilder, and farmer. He also served a term as the director of the Fair Play Wilderness Boys Camp. His grandchildren can attest that he was a great story-teller. He loved hunting and fishing, and it is evident he passed this passion on to his children and grandchildren.

David was predeceased by his parents; Harvey Yoder and Saloma Yoder, his three brothers; Samuel Yoder, Floyd Yoder, and Andy Yoder, two sisters; Barbara Yoder and Alma Yoder Hertzler, and two grandchildren. 

David leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, Babara Yoder, his children; Jonathan (Charity)Yoder, Joanna Henderson, Michael (Joy) Yoder, Rachael (Ed) Royer, Stephen Yoder, Julia (JD) Miller, Gabriel (Paula) Yoder, and Abigail (Jim) Kauffman, his brothers and sisters; Mary (Ernest) Hochstetler, Joe (Lisa) Yoder, Mark (Martha) Yoder, Regina (Giovonni) Urso, and Sharon (James) Mast, his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Visitations will be held on Sunday May 12th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Earles Grove Life Center, 398 Cedar Lane Rd, Westminster, SC 29693.

A Memorial Service to honor David’s life will be held on Monday, May 13th, 2024 at 10:00 am at Earles Grove Baptist Church, 398 Cedar Lane Rd, Westminster, SC 29693

David Yoder will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend. His stories and wisdom will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, and beloved comrade, Sam Kanagy.
