Eugenia Grant McNeill, wife of the late Willie C. McNeill transitioned to her forever home on May 15, 2022..
Born in North Augusta SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lily Grant. Gene, as family and friends called her, was a graduate of Haines Institute in Aiken County. Her secondary education where she received her degrees were from Benedict College in Columbia SC and Temple University in Philadelphia PA. She was a retired educator from the Oconee County school system where she taught on the elementary level during her career. Her passion was teaching students not only school subjects but life skills with a desire to see them succeed in life. Her witty attitude was a charm she never forgot.
She was a member of the New Harmony United Methodist Church.
Eugenia is survived by a son, Brian McNeill (Cathy), grandson, Daryl McNeill Jr, step grandson’s Brian and Duane Goodine, grand daughter, Tiffany Spires and 4 great grand children, and a host of extended family members.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Daryl and Kenneth McNeill, sisters, Bess Milikin, Dorothy Roundtree, Louise Richardson, Anna (Teedie) Grant, Aldenia Patterson, Mary Nixon and brothers, Leroy and Henry Jr Grant.
Gilbert Funeral home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
A viewing service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 1pm- 4pm in the M.J.G Memorial Chapel, Gilbert Mortuary
A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 21, 2022, 2:00 PM at New Harmony United Methodist Church with burial in the Oconee Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family is at the home of her son, Brian McNeill.
A special thanks to all the nurses who loved on and cared for her during her stay at The Residences At Park Place assisted living facility.
