Mary G. Staggers, 73, of Westminster, SC, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary was born on October 4, 1951, to the late Isabelle and Thomas Goldsmith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary was married to her loving husband, Calvin Staggers, with whom she built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised two children, Alvin Staggers (wife Kamilah) of Atlanta, GA, and Leslie Staggers of Westminster, SC. Mary was also a proud and doting grandmother to JeCari and Embrya Wiley, who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers—James Milton Goldsmith, John Thomas Goldsmith, and Robert James Goldsmith—and two sisters, Betty Jean Goldsmith and Martha Craig. She is survived by her sister, Maryland Poole of Westminster, SC, who shared a lifelong bond of love and support with her.
Mary worked tirelessly throughout her life, retiring from both Beacon Manufacturing and Oconee County as a Food Service Worker. Her dedication, work ethic, and caring nature were evident in everything she did, both professionally and personally.
A devoted and active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Mary faithfully served her church community until her health no longer allowed. Her vibrant personality, humor, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Whether singing, volunteering, or simply fellowshipping with others, Mary brought joy and inspiration to those around her.
To know Mary was to love her. She was a woman of boundless energy, endless compassion, and an infectious sense of humor. Her warmth, selflessness, and ability to make others feel special will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary’s legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, sister, extended family, and countless friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Though we grieve her loss, we celebrate her life and the profound impact she made on so many. Mary is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
